I must say that if a blog post rambles on endlessly, I don’t bother. I’m a busy person. There’s plenty of sites out there that provide the same information without all the flowery words or useless dialog.
This leads to also keeping blog entries concise and to the point. I don’t mean to yank the creativity out of what you write, but consider the average blog reader just wants to be entertained or informed. They might want both, but they want both in a short amount of time.
The Internet moves fast, and those that travel the information highway do so at high speeds. Take in consideration that a web site visitors wants to go where they want to go within two clicks of the mouse- if not one. They quickly, and even ruthlessly, decide if the site is worth reading, or they move onto something better. And trust me, the competition is fierce. Fierce but not so much in quality as much as quantity.
Best advice on this matter: Keep it short and sweet and to the point.
